North Korea Closer to Building Nuclear Missile, Pentagon Says

North Korea probably has the capability to produce a nuclear warhead that could be mounted on a rocket, a top U.S. commander said Friday, moving it closer to building a nuclear missile.

North Korea probably has the capability to produce a Nuclear warhead that could be mounted on a rocket; Such nuclear warheads would be small enough to fit on a intercontinental ballistic-missile and would be a major improvement to Pyongyang’s weapons-technology. North Korea has developed a launcher that could carry an intercontinental ballistic-missile with a miniaturized warhead.

‘They’re no longer trying to deter a conventionally armed military, they’re trying to deter a nuclear weapons state,’ says professor Victor Cha ( Georgetown University ).

The U.S. has more than 28,000 troops in South Korea, a long-term presence meant to deter an attack by North Korea on South Korea.
